Tour "A journey through the history – from ancient times to the medieval era”
During the tour we take a guided walk through the Āraiši Lake Fortress Archaeological Park, exploring the reconstructed pre – historic buildings, learning about the living conditions and daily life of ancient people, and learning about the tools and accessories once used by the inhabitants of Āraiši Lake Fortress.

We offer families and small groups a guided walk through Āraiši Lake Fortress Archaeological Park, during which you will not only hear the guide's story about the prehistoric period and Āraiši Lake Fortress, but also gain practical knowledge through taking active part in building a teepee or processing flint or examining bone weapons or obtain flour etc.
SCHOOL PROGRAMS
"Break through the ages" 7th –12th grade
An educational program where students follow instructions and in teams complete tasks within a limited time in order to move on. During the program, students will have the opportunity to draw conclusions about each of the eras represented in the Āraiši Archaeological Park and the importance of archaeology as a source for researching prehistory and medieval history. In addition to learning about historical processes, students will develop skills in navigating their environment and learn practical skills such as working with clay, grinding grains, putting on ancient clothing, and hitting targets using a mini version of a trebuchet!
''Bread and porridge in the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages'' 1th – 12th grade
We invite students to an exciting adventure at the Āraiši Lake Fortress Archaeological Park – Daughters’ Island (Meitu sala)! Here, students will learn about diet of ancient, farming and grain processing. We will bake bread together on fire – everyone will be able to make their own bread on a stick and taste it with delicious jam. And we will eat porridge with bacon cooked and fried in ceramic pots placed in glowing coals.
“Make your own ancient Latvian sign!” 1th – 12th grade
The program will begin with a story of Āraiši Lake Fortress and its inhabitants, after which students will decorate white ceramic pendants with form of ancient Latvian signs to take home. During the program students will gain knowledge about cultural values of islanders and understanding of ancient Latvian belief in many Gods.
